Sr Financial Analyst

Summary:


Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures applicable to the financial operations of the plant in the areas of Cost Accounting, Operations Reporting, and Internal Controls.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

  • Three years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Experience with MFG Pro, SAP, HFM, and Microsoft Access

  • Ability to work through and take ownership of ambiguous situations.

  • Ability to work well under deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Experience with variance analysis, forecasting, month end financial closings, and fixed assets

  • Analyze and determine root causes of financial issues, monitor and report indirect expenses

  • Ability to take ownership of ambiguous situations and projects

  • Needs to be self-driven, team oriented, and professional

  • Sound knowledge of basic accounting theory and methods understands SOX requirements

  • Extensive use with Excel, able to present financial data to non-financial audience


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (Section 404) and BOS (Business Operating System).

  • Support safety programs for the plant.

  • Performs financial analysis of operating results including analysis of Volume / Mix / Price and Standard Margin. Analyzes material and labor costs to identify cost reduction opportunities. Provide accurate and timely production, material, labor and operating metrics reporting to plant management. Analyzes, explains and documents any unusual variances.

  • Maintains the plant's Cost Accounting systems including updates the MfgPro routings, reconciles the MfgPro MBOM to the SAP BOM, analyzes and prepares annual standards (Material, Labor, Overhead, Freight). Reviews monthly variances from standard costs and works with the Materials Department to ensure accurate BOMs.

  • Provides accurate and timely data for the Best Business Practices (BBP) reporting system. Assists in analyzing the Plant's BBP results compared to the Global Best Plant to identify improvements in operating performance. As assigned by the Plant Controller, participates as a team member on continuous improvement projects.

  • Completes periodic reviews of the material and labor reporting systems, (i.e. receiving, shipping, finished goods inventories, labor distribution, scrap reporting and material usage, etc.) so that an accurate income statement can be submitted for each month's business.

  • Performs analysis and review of all inventory balances in order to identify slow moving or obsolete inventories. Reviews results of perpetual inventory testing to identify potential internal control weaknesses. Works with the Materials Department to identify opportunities to reduce inventory days on hand.

  • Works with the controller to develop sales and costs for completion of monthly outlooks, business forecasts and the annual profit plan.

  • Ensures proper account distribution for item expenses, inventories, fixed assets, etc.

  • As assigned by the Plant Controller, completes general accounting activities, including month end closing, journal entries and reporting. Ensures timely month end closings and timely reporting into all reporting systems (Hyperion, SAP, CI, ITS, VA/VE, BBP, Quality etc.).

  • Assists with the annual physical inventory to assure accurate inventories and proper analysis.

  • Completes all financial, governmental reports as assigned by the Plant Controller.

  • Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of balance sheet accounts as assigned by the Plant Controller ensuring that account reconciliations are completed monthly/quarterly as scheduled.

  • Assists as directed by the Plant Controller related to year-end audit requirements regarding timing and completion as they pertain to the plant.

  • Coordinates as assigned by the Plant Controller non-production departments' annual profit plan and quarterly forecasts. Assists non-production department managers in analyzing actual to budget variances.

  • Assists Plant Controller in the annual audit and federal and state tax compliance.

  • Assists in developing financial policies and procedures and ensure compliance by the plant.

  • Other duties as required by the Plant Controller


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor's degree with major in accounting or finance and five (5) or more years of accounting/financial experience with emphasis in cost accounting and budgets. Related experience, training, education or some combination of all three may be considered.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and government documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries. Ability to effectively present information to plant management and employee groups.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs. Ability to create visual aids for communication purposes. PC based software knowledge must include word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation and email based systems.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
